Bielik is an advanced, next-generation Polish language model built on generative AI (GenAI) technology. It was designed to deliver high-quality natural language processing in Polish. Bielik belongs to the class of large language models (LLMs – Large Language Models). Globally, the most recognized models in this category include OpenAI’s GPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and Google’s Gemini. Bielik has been specifically developed and fine-tuned to meet the needs of users in Poland.

Meet Bielik: The "White-Tailed Eagle" of Polish AI

Bielik is Poland’s answer to the global AI revolution - a national language model named after the white-tailed eagle, the bird featured on Poland's coat of arms. Unlike giants like ChatGPT, which are trained mostly on English data and then "taught" other languages, Bielik was built from the ground up on a massive, high-quality diet of exclusively Polish texts.

It is a non-profit "people’s project" created by a community of volunteers (SpeakLeash) and trained on Poland’s fastest supercomputers at AGH University in Kraków. Its goal is not to be the biggest AI in the world, but to be the best at understanding Poland - its language, its laws, and its distinct cultural reality.

The project emerged from the work of a team operating within the SpeakLeash Foundation and the Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet AGH. It forms part of a broader strategy to develop independent, local AI solutions. These models are distinguished by their superior alignment with the language, cultural context, and legal frameworks applicable in Poland and across the European Union.

AGH University of Science and Technology

AGH University of Science and Technology is one of Poland’s most prestigious technical universities and a research institution. Located in Kraków, it was originally founded in 1919 as the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy, reflecting Poland's industrial heritage.

Today, AGH is a comprehensive STEM powerhouse offering programs in engineering, computer science, physics, materials science, and applied mathematics, among other fields.

Recently, Rafał Brzoska was appointed head of Bielik’s Business Council, while InPost, under his leadership, became Bielik’s strategic partner. Initial results are already visible.

Bielik enters InPost

According to Rafał Brzoska, InPost is beginning the rollout of Bielik AI within the InPost Mobile app, which currently serves 15 million users.

“Artificial intelligence and the tools built on it represent a future that is already here, and we need to be ready for it,” Mr. Brzoska said.

The rollout began at 2 p.m. and will initially reach 1% of app users. Full access will be available to all users within two days, following the installation of the new app version.

InPost aims to support Bielik’s development

The creators of the model require data from real user interactions, and InPost will provide that opportunity through the “Feed Bielik” project. Its goal is to enable every user of Poland’s first artificial intelligence model, Bielik.ai, to contribute to improving the Polish linguistic, cultural, and social context of Bielik’s models. At the same time, access to the technology will remain free.

“InPost has become a strategic partner of Bielik, a Polish AI at the early stages of building its brand. We want to participate in this process of creating homegrown artificial intelligence. We want to support Bielik, which is why it will be integrated into the InPost app, helping train the model,” said Rafał Brzoska.

The Bielik.ai version, with direct access to internet-based data, will be available exclusively through the InPost Mobile app.

“In a time when AI has become part of everyday life globally, we believe local technologies are key to our digital sovereignty. They allow data to be generated and maintained in Poland, in accordance with our regulations and market realities. Major projects start with small steps. Today, that step is the ‘Feed Bielik’ initiative. It is a community-driven project designed to help train a Polish model capable of competing with the world’s leading LLMs,” explained the CEO of InPost.

The InPost–Bielik partnership

On November 27, during the Bielik Summit, it was announced that Rafał Brzoska had been appointed chairman of Bielik’s Business Council, a new body established within the BielikAI project. The CEO of InPost also pledged support for the development of AI and Polish initiatives.

A central element of the partnership is the creation of the Business Council. Its purpose is to define strategic directions, share expert knowledge, and support projects run by the SpeakLeash Foundation, the owner of BielikAI. Both parties have also committed to close collaboration in developing the technology.

“I am proud that we can contribute to the development of Polish artificial intelligence, created by Polish engineers, strengthening Poland’s sovereignty,” said Rafał Brzoska.

AI innovations coming to InPost

On the occasion of the announcement, Rafał Brzoska also addressed broader AI deployments within InPost.

“Full-scale, business-wide AI implementation is a process that takes time. This will be the case with Bielik and other projects we are working on intensively. We are testing various very promising solutions, which we will announce soon,” said Mr. Brzoska.

The InPost CEO emphasized that the company wants to ensure the functionalities work well before they are widely released.

“I can assure you, this will be a very interesting revolution,” he commented.

A few weeks ago, media reports highlighted the development of AI tools within InPost. Meanwhile, at a conference summarizing the company’s Q3 results, Mr. Brzoska made a firm declaration that InPost aims to become a global leader in integrating artificial intelligence into logistics channels powered by this technology.

“We are observing a shifting balance of power, which is particularly visible in the field of search engines. Had Google not wisely begun cannibalizing itself [investing, for example, in AI that threatens search revenue – ed.] – it would have been left with nothing. Apple has completely abandoned this front and today is ready to pay enormous sums to integrate Google-owned Gemini into its devices. This shows that the first companies are already losing this race. There will be many more losers, but we certainly will not be among them,” Rafał Brzoska said.

Bielik and Polish business

The collaboration with InPost is not Bielik’s first initiative involving the Polish business sector. In October, Bielik AI and the Spichlerz Foundation, together with Beyond.pl, announced the launch of the Gniazdo (Nest) initiative. Its purpose is to accelerate the development of Bielik and to speed up the implementation of AI projects across Central and Eastern Europe using the model.

The initiative focuses on building an AI environment for the Bielik language model that can be offered to Polish enterprises as a ready-to-use platform for executing enterprise AI projects – that is, projects developed within external corporate structures.

The technological backbone of Gniazdo is the AI Factory, launched by the company in September 2025 in Poznań in western Poland.

"The Gniazdo project represents the next stage in Bielik’s development. Through this initiative, Polish companies will gain access to a Polish enterprise-class AI platform that combines high quality, sovereignty, and powerful computing capacity. We provide an alternative to global models, ensuring full technological independence. This will materially accelerate AI adoption among Polish entities and allow clients to create multi-agent solutions that support AI implementation processes,” commented Sebastian Kondracki, CEO of BielikAI and the Spichlerz Foundation.
